Terms of service

1. The service

DecisionBranch lets you write decision trees, analyse them (expected value, recommended path, sensitivity, value of information, risk profile), save and share them, embed them, and draft them with an AI builder. The free tier, the Pro plan and the Team plan are described on the pricing page, which forms part of these terms.

2. Accounts

You do not need an account to build, analyse or share a tree. To save trees you sign in with an email magic link or a Google account. You are responsible for the email account you sign in with. One person per account; a Team plan covers up to five editors, each with their own sign-in.

3. Your content

Trees you create are yours. We claim no ownership of them. By making a tree public you give us permission to display it at its public address and in embeds, and you give other users permission to view it and to fork it into their own account. Making it private again stops new views and forks but does not recall copies already forked. You are responsible for what you publish: do not publish content you do not have the right to, content that is unlawful, or personal data about others without their consent.

We may remove public content that breaks these terms or the law, and we will tell you when we do unless the law prevents it.

4. Acceptable use

• Do not attempt to access other users' private trees or accounts, or to circumvent limits such as the private-tree limit or the daily AI builder allowance.
• Do not use automated means to create accounts or to load the service beyond what a person using it would.
• Do not use the AI builder to generate content that is unlawful or that violates Anthropic's usage policies, which apply to that feature.
• Do not embed a tree on a site in a way that misrepresents who made it or removes the badge on a free-tier embed.

5. Plans, payment and cancellation

Paid plans are billed in advance by Stripe, monthly or yearly as you choose at checkout, and renew automatically until cancelled. Prices are shown on the pricing page and at checkout, and may change with notice; a change applies from your next renewal. You can cancel any time from the billing portal in your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan's features until the end of the period you have paid for, and the account then returns to the free tier with all your trees intact; you cannot add private trees beyond the free limit until you make room or upgrade again. Refunds are covered by the refunds and cancellation policy.

Prices exclude VAT and sales taxes where they apply; Stripe adds any tax due at checkout based on your billing address.

6. The AI builder

The AI builder drafts an outline from your description using a third-party model. It can be wrong, and it does not know your business. Treat its probabilities and payoffs as placeholders to replace with your own. The recommendation is only as good as the numbers in the tree.

7. No professional advice

DecisionBranch does arithmetic on numbers you provide. It is not financial, legal, medical or other professional advice, and a recommendation from a tree is not a recommendation from us. Decisions you make using it are yours.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available and we back up the database, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Keep a copy of important outlines; the text copies from every page. We may change or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give paid subscribers at least 60 days' notice and refund any unused portion of a prepaid period.

9. Warranty and liability

The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all warranties, and our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, or consumer rights that apply where you live.

10. Termination

You can close your account at any time by emailing us, as described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where reasonable we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your trees.

11. Privacy

How we handle data is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Tov Studios LLC is organised, and disputes go to the courts there, except that consumers keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country they live in.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and account holders are told by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that is acceptance.
